Miles & Kilo is an lovely, well-made platformer with loads of cute characters and your own little dog!
Miles & Kilo is a fun, retro-inspired, fast-paced game where you play as a kid named Mile, exploring around a world full of coins, enemies, and fruit. As Miles, you must quickly move through this haunted world, throwing fruit at enemies in your path. You have a limited number of fruit, so grabbing up more is very much needed.
The game moves quickly, forcing you to think on your feet, jump quickly, and grab coins if you want them. Occasionally, you will meet other creatures that lurk in the land, learning a bit of their story and more about how you ended up on these haunted islands.
Some boss levels allow your dog, Kilo, to take control. Kilo will drag you by the leash as you desperately hold on. Kilo does not throw fruit like you, for they do not have any thumbs. Instead, they dash into enemies, taking each one down with well timed moves. If, at any point, you or Kilo hit an enemy, spike, or fall off the map, you will die and need to restart the stage.
Miles & Kilo is a satisfying platformer that doesn’t do anything completely out of the box, but instead entices the player through the beautiful visuals, sleek movement, and funny story.
I was able to take on a demo of Miles & Kilo at EGX 2018. Miles & Kilo is currently out on Steam at £5.79, on iOS for $2.99, and on Nintendo Switch at $7.99.
